What to do on a beautiful wknd. in Roch.

With beautiful weather taking over this wknd., it's time to finally soak up all that Rochester has to give in the spring.  Sports, beer, music....what's your choice?

>>> Kick off your Sat. by helping Julie from the Drive at Edgerton Park for the city's annual spring ritual Clean Sweep.  Julie will be on scene to help beautify Roch. Sat. morn. at 9.

>>> After, take a bike ride and run through the city as the Flour City Challenge takes over the streets Sat. with fun leading up to the more competitive 5K (13.1 mile) run on Sun.  This is one of the better annual treks as the course takes you through beautiful city neighborhoods including the Mt. Hope and South Wedge areas.

>>> Everybody knows Rochester is a golf town and plenty of folks will hit the links this wknd.  To get in the spirit of the PGA Championship coming in August, Golf Balls on Parade unveils it's 29 decorative styles Sat. from 11a-2p at Big Oak on Panorama Trail in Penfield.

>>> Pro Sports take over as the Red Wings hope to continue their rebound Sat. aft. at Frontier Field,  Sat. night the Rochester Knighthawks take on Philadelphia in the MILL lacrosse playoffs at the Blue Cross Arena at 7:35p.  With the great weather, if you'd rather stay outdoors the WNY Flash women's soccer team kicks off their season at Sahlen's Stadium Sat. night.  Rochester soccer hero Abby Wambach is sidelined by injury but has promised to be on scene to sign autographs at the stadium.

>>> Raise a glass to the end of Prohibition Sat. and Sun. at the Genny Brew House on St. Paul St.  Less than a dozen breweries in America survived and the folks at Genesee will celebrate the 80th anniversary with live music and plenty of suds Sat. aft. from 2p-5p. The party continues Sun. and it's a great spot to enjoy beautiful views of the river at the Brew House.

>>> Round out the wknd. by saluting some of Rochester's musical legends Sun. night at the Rochester Music Hall of Fame induction ceremonies at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.  Icons of our diverse music scene including Lou Gramm, Bat McGrath, radio Gods Jack Palvino and Nick Nickson will be saluted for their contributions.  I worked for Jack and with Nick years ago and they are class acts and I congratulate them on their well deserved honors!  God bless them and God bless our troops.
