You don't find a sinkhole very often around here, but our chums at 13WHAM News did in Greece. If I had paid closer attention in Geology class at Geneseo St., I could explain this. Here's the scoop:
It's a sinkhole, at least 4-and-a-half feet wide.
When the Coons family first noticed it on their Latona Road property last
week, it was 2 feet wide.
The Coons believe that an old tank or pipe had given away after all the
moisture from the recent rain had seeped through the ground. For the last week,
they have not allowed their three children and dog to play in the backyard
The sinkhole measures about 6 feet deep.
There is rain in the forecast soon, and the Coons hope that the sinkhole does
not get bigger.
