While we take time on this holiday weekend to salute the good people: our fallen heroes, veterans and current members of our beloved military, let's not forget there are dirtballs amongst us who are selfish. Here is a prime example from my hometown, courtesy of 13WHAM News.
Canandaigua, Ontario County - A Canandaigua man is facing charges, after police say he stole a jar filled with donations for charity.
Timothy Morgan, 32, is accused of breaking into Patty's Place on S. Main St. Thursday night and taking hundreds of dollars in donations intended for the Serenity House.
He was arrested a short time later at his house.
Morgan is charged with third degree burglary and is being held in the Ontario Co. Jail.
Mayor's thoughts: I personally know Patty Hotchkiss, the wonderful owner of Patty's Place who works tirelessly year round to benefit others who need our help. Anyone who would break in to Patty's Place and rip off cash intended for others needs to spend a long weekend in jail. Congrats to Chief Jon Welch and his hard working team at the Canandaigua PD for bringing this loser to justice. God bless our troops!
