Rochester likes to celebrate, and we get in the New Year's mood early downtown tonight. There is a benefit to the early launch: with the bitter cold air, you can get off the street early, get the kids in bed and let the adult party go on.
The city has plenty of free indoor family fun scheduled for the Riverside Convention Center beginning at 7pm. Our bud Jimmy C will be spinning the tunes, surrounded by a climbing wall, bounce houses, a slide and obstacle courses.
At 10pm, the party moves to the Main St. bridge as Gary Mervis from Camp Good Days leads the crowd in the annual Kazoofest, just as fireworks are launched along the river. RTS will offer free rides downtown and there's free parking at the Washington Square, Court St., South Ave. and Sisters Cities garages. And if you're brave enough to battle the cold, there's free skating at Martin Luther King (formerly Manhattan Square) Park tonight.
Don't forget to usher in 2014 with us as we countdown the Top 50 tunes of 2013 from 7p-midnight on the Drive. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
