Festivals of fun and warriors

Got to enjoy every moment of summer as July winds down this wknd.  From the eastside to the west, there's plenty of fun to take in, including a special day for our wounded warriors Sat.

>> Let's get UGLY!  The 24th Annual Ten Ugly Men Festival takes over Genesee Valley Park all day Sat.  Plenty of live music (including the introduction of the winning group from our 10 Ugly Bands competition), lots of food and drink, great people watching and it's all for supporting terrific local organizations: Golisano Children's Hospital, The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, Equicenter and the St. Mary's Oncology Center. Get ugly for the kids.

>> Get ur ER on!  The East Rochester Fire Dept. Carnival runs Thur. - Sat. on the ER school grounds on Woodbine Ave.  It's always a great family event, with plenty of rides, games, chow and live music in the beer tent.  The ER Parade is Sat. starting at 6:30 on W. Commercial St, heading to Main St. then onto Woodbine.  Who doesn't love a parade with LOTS of fire trucks?

>> Hilton rocks the westside!  Plenty more fire trucks on scene Thur. night in Hilton for their parade kicking off on Main St. at 7p, ending at the carnival grounds on route 259 across from Tops Plaza. Look for our own Clear Channel Queen Karylin Coleman supervising operations at the huge beer tent.  Karylin loves her brew!

>> CMAC keeps the tunes rockin'!  The Under The Sun tour hits Canandaigua Sat. with 5 bands under the shell: Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon and Fastball.  Then they clean the joint and set up One Republic for their Sun. night show.  Tickets: www.cmacevents.com.  Rock on!

>> Salute our heroes!  The most touching event of the wknd. locally is the 2nd Annual Wounded Warrior Benefit Concert Sat.  It's an all day show of support for our injured troops from 12p-11p at the Greece American Legion Post 468 at 344 Dorsey Rd.  At least 10 bands are confirmed including the Kid Curry Band, and what a way to say thank you to those who have sacrificed for US.  Info: www.woundedwarriorconcert.org. God bless our troops!
