Lots of bizarre things happening around town this wknd....the weather...3 shootings in the city within an hour Fri. night....390 construction starting hassles over by Strong and the UofR...but nothing tops this one, courtesy of News 10NBC. It's the SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS this house has been hit by an alleged drunk driver! The curse of Riga....
A 55-year-old man is under arrest after deputies say he crashed into a home in Riga late Friday night while he was drunk.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office tells News10NBC they were called to the scene of that crash at Route 36 and Chili-Riga Center Road around 11:40 p.m. Friday night.
When they arrived, they found 55-year-old William Manning, of Rochester, had gone through a stop sign on Route 36, went through a lawn and crashed into the foundation of a house at that intersection.
Investigators say the car hit the house so hard it left a hole in foundation and shifted a section of the house several inches. Deputies say a code enforcement officer has deemed the home inhabitable.
Manning was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation along with several other traffic violations. His car was heavily damaged and Manning suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
