Who doesn't love a great parade? It's a summer tradition when fire departments stage their annual carnivals to support their volunteer organizations. These departments rely on the carnivals to help with funding their volunteer organizations who are here for small communities 24/7. The Webster Fire Dept. is hosting it's annual carnival this wknd. at the Firemen's Field on Barrett St. It all kicks off with tonight's parade which has added meaning this year.
The parade will be dedicated to the memory of two fallen heroes who were tragically taken while responding on Christmas Eve morning to a house fire on Lake Rd. We all know what happened when they arrived on scene. West Webster Firefighters Mike Chiapperini (a Lt. in the Webster Police Dept.) and Tomasz Kaczowka were gunned down by a madman and many lives were changed forever. Tonight these heroes will be honored with a ceremony kicking off the parade.
The tribute begins at 6:30p at Ridge Rd. and Phillips Rd. The parade will wind it's way to the Firemen's Field on Barrett. A huge crowd is expected as a community honors it's fallen heroes. God bless Chip and Tomasz and their families.
