Rochester, NY -- Rochester Mayor Tom Richards says Rural/Metro is operating in the city just fine , despite reports the company is preparing for possible bankruptcy.
He says the city's contract with Rural/Metro gives the city options to intervene should there be problems with service, but he says the city has been assured there won't be any problems. Richards says the city remains in touch with senior management and will meet again within a week. Richards says, so far, the company is living up to its contract.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Arizona-based Rural/Metro Corporation is preparing for possible bankruptcy.
A Rural/Metro spokesperson says the ambulance company is working to make sure their operations are in line with their funding.
Rural/Metro is the country's largest ambulance operator.
