Ukrainian Community in Rochester Plans Memorial

Rochester, NY -- Leaders of Rochester's sizable Ukrainian community are planning a memorial service Saturday evening in memory of the protesters killed this week in Kiev.

Elena Dilai, the local head of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, says her friends and relatives in Ukraine have been telling her the protests have spread across the country.

The service will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church on East Ridge Road and is open to all faiths. It will be followed by a procession with candles, flags and banners in memory of those who died.
