Rochester, NY -- An annual survey of businesses by the Rochester Business Alliance shows a modest starting pay increase for unskilled workers.
Companies reported an average starting rate for unskilled jobs of $10.84 an hour, up from $10.59 a year ago.
The survey also shows average wage increases for all area workers between two and a half and three percent. RBA President and CEO Sandy Parker says that's in line with the rest of the country.
And the survey shows the cost of worker benefits as a percentage of payroll rising locally this year from 27.4 percent to 28.3 percent.
