The propane industry says there's a way to prevent the kind of price spikes for propane that we've seen this winter.
New York Propane Gas Association President Rick Cummings says state regulators need to give their OK to a plan by a supplier to use a cavern in Schuyler County to store propane in the summer. He says that would mitigate any supply shortages when demand is high during the winter.
Cummings says regulators have been dragging their feet on the Finger Lakes project for several years.
Cummings says lack of storage capacity has driven propane prices in New York 40 percent higher this winter.
