The police report in the death of former LPGA golfer and Spencerport native Danielle Downey has been released.
In it, the Alabama Department of Public Safety says Downey was out drinking with friends prior to the deadly crash. Those friends tell police they tried to stop her from driving, but were unsuccessful.
The report also finds Downey was speeding and passing other vehicles before crashing into a tree. Downey, who was not wearing a seat belt was ejected and pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.
Calling hours for Downey will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the DiPonzio Funeral Home on Spencerport Road in Gates. The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Chapel of the Westside on South Union Street in Spencerport.
