Orleans County paster charged with abusing children

State Police in Albion have arrested a 70-year-old pastor on sexual abuse charges.

 The Reverend Roy Harriger, Senior of Middleport is currently pastor of the Community Fellowship Church in Hartland. Investigators have charged him with consistently abusing two victims while he served as pastor of the Wesleyan Church in Lyndonville 12 years ago. This was from September, 2000 to September, 2001.

 Investigators say crimes allegedly occurred in New York as well as in the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania as far back as 1974. State police in those states have been notified and are conducting their own investigations.

 Harriger is being held in the Orleans County Jail on $250,000 bail. Troopers are asking anyone who may have been victimized by this suspect or who has any information to contact State Police in Albion at (585)589-4244.

The specific charges against Rev. Harriger include two counts of Course of Sexual Conduct, two counts of incest and four counts of sodomy. All are felonies.

 He’ll be in Town of Yates Court on December 3rd.
