Albany, NY -- The New York State Police are joining with their counterparts in 40 other states for the Drive to Save Lives Campaign.
It's united effort to reduce highway fatalities by 15 percent this year. More than 33,000 deaths occur each year on the nation’s roadways.
The emphasis in New York is on the I-90 corridor. The yearlong campaign focuses seat-belt use and speed enforcement and targets impaired and distracted driving. Law enforcement will also be on the lookout for unsafe driving behaviors by operators of large trucks and buses.
