Nurse's Aide Accused of Causing Injuries at Nursing Home

Batavia, NY -- A certified nurse's aide at the Genesee County Nursing Home has been arrested on charges she injured a resident.

Court documents filed by the state Attorney General allege Sarah Waclawski, 25, of Batavia, moved a 100-year-old dementia patient from her wheelchair to her bed last March without help from another staff member, as required by the resident’s care plan. When Waclawski allegedly decided to move the woman back to her wheelchair, the woman fell -- hitting her head.

The charging documents also say the aide tried to wipe up the blood and did not get help for the patient.

Waclawski was charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the First Degree. She entered a plea of not guilty and is due back in court on March 4.
