(13WHAM) Rushville N.Y.- Bicyclist Kevin Royston told the driver who hit him and left him on the side of a road last year, that he took away his life.
Royston lost part of his leg in that crash on Townline Road in Rushville last June.
The driver, John Stenzel, admitted to hitting Royston and leaving him for dead and later tampering with evidence.
Stenzel told police he thought he hit a deer, which is why he did not stop.
Stenzel will serve 1-3 years in state prison as part of a plea deal.
He'll also have to pay $20,000 in restitution.
An order of protection was issued for the Royston family as well.
Royston, his wife and daughter all spoke at sentencing today. Royston now wears a prosthetic and is getting better day by day, but still cannot return to work.
