Man rescued from Bausch St. bridge
Rochester Police talked a man out of jumping from the Bausch Street Bridge Saturday Morning.

Lt. Frank DiPrimo said police were called to the bridge shortly after 7:00 a.m. for a report of a man standing on the wrong side of the railing.

They found a 40-year-old city man on the north side of the bridge who told them he was distraught over a domestic issue.

Officers Mike Yazback, Mike Grabowski, Sam Ognibene and Sgt. Jeff Lafave talked to the man for about an hour and finally persuaded him to climb back over the rail to safety. The bridge was closed to traffic during the event. The Rochester Fire Department plus the Police Scuba Squad and Crisis Negotiation Team assisted in the rescue.

The man was taken to Strong Hospital for a mental evaluation.
