Lewek seeks drug court diversion

Rochester Psychiatrist William Lewek was in court this afternoon as his lawyer argued he should be put into a Judicial Diversion Program for drug treatment.

Lewek is accused of evidence tampering for hiding the body of Matthew Straton in his back yard and of drug posession. Attorney Matthew Parinello wants his client moved into Drug Diversion which could reduce the charges to a misdemeanor. Prosecutor Kelly Wolford argues that Lewek's crimes don't fit the intent of the diversion program, which is meant to identify people who would benefit from drug treatment and get them into a program.

Both sides made their argument. The judge will decide if Lewek is qualified or not. He's due back in court on May first.
