Impromptu memorial parade closes N. Goodman Street

Rochester police shut down several streets on the Northeast Side this afternoon because of an impromptu parade in honor of a man killed in a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

Ramon Gonzalez was also known as Jadiel el Tsunami and "El Incomparable." He was a Puerto Rican Reggaeton singer who was visiting family in Gates at the time of his death. Reggaeton is a form of urban music popular with Latino youth since the 1990s. A crowd estimated at hundreds of people turned out for a tribute to the lost singer that turned into a parade of some 100 motorcycles up Goodman Street.

Police closed North Goodman in both directions from Clifford Avenue to Norton Street and called in additional cars from the Lilac Festival. One rider fell doing wheelies, but police say nothing was injured but his pride.

So far we have no word of any arrests.
