An annual ceremony this weekend in Maryland honoring the nation's fallen firefighters will likely have to be moved, because the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial is off limits while the government remains shut down.
Heroes being honored this year include the two West Webster firefighters killed last Christmas Eve.
Ceremony organizer Linda Hurley says it's heartbreaking that survivors of the fallen firefighters won't get the exact ceremony they deserve. Many are coming long distances for the observance, which will be moved to a site nearby.
They will be able to see and touch the plaque with their loved ones' names. It will eventually be installed on the memorial -- but barring a sudden end to the shutdown -- not this weekend.
