Rochester, NY -- Former Eastman School of Music Dean Douglas Lowry has passed away -- a little more than a week after his resignation for health reasons.
University of Rochester President Joel Seligman says Lowry was a remarkable leader, who brought together the Eastman School community in ways that were deeply
appreciated by its faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends.
And Seligman says Lowry was also a remarkably successful composer and conductor.
Lowry is survived by his wife and three children. Seligman has directed that the University flags be flown at half-staff on Friday.
Memorial arrangements will be announced later.
