Cuomo announces drunken driving crackdown

State and local police are starting a holiday traffic enforcement detail this evening.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says they’ll have more sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to deter drunk driving. They’ll also be watching for people texting on the road or other kinds of distracted driving.

This will be from now through New Year’s Day.

Alcohol-related crashes killed 358 New Yorkers last year.
