Irondequoit, NY -- Bishop Kearney High School has formally purchased the property at 125 Kings Highway in Irondequoit, which has served as the school’s home for 52 years.
The deal was facilitated by Paychex founder and longtime Bishop Kearney benefactor Tom Golisano. He first offered to arrange the purchase in February.
Bishop Kearney acquired the school building and 42 acres of surrounding land from The Christian Brothers Institute and the Christian Brothers of Ireland for a price of $3.4 million. The Institute had filed for Bankruptcy protection in 2011 after a series of lawsuits alleging physical and sexual abuse of children in the care of members of the order in the U.S.
Financing was provided by Main Street Fishers LLC.
