"California Gov. Jerry Brown today signed a bill outlawing so-called revenge porn and levying possible jail time for people who post naked photos of their exes. Senate Bill 255, which takes effect immediately, makes it a misdemeanor to post identifiable nude pictures of someone else online without permission with the intent to cause emotional distress or humiliation. The penalty is up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine". via Newser
UPDATE: An effort to attack so-called ``revenge porn'' is getting strong support in New York's Legislature.
A proposed law would make it a crime for people to post pornography to damage somebody's reputation. The most common targets are former girlfriends and ex-spouses.
The New York Daily News reports that Republican Sen. Phil Boyle of Long Island and Democratic Assemblyman Francisco Moya of Queens plan to push revenge porn bills in the 2014 legislative session. That gives the proposal majority backers in both chambers. [WHAM1180]
This "Revenge Porn" has also been the reason for many teen suicides. It's a pretty controversial subject. Do you think New York should jump on this ban next?
